What is a mobile keycard?
A mobile keycard is a software downloaded onto a phone that is used in a secure and encrypted manner. The mobile keycard has a unique identifier that replicates the physical badge commonly used in building access control systems (e.g. turnstiles). Similar to a physical badge, the mobile keycard can be used to unlock common space doors, turnstiles, and elevator kiosks within a building.
Configuring your mobile keycard (iOS):
- Log in to the Cohesion App on your iOS device – if asked, select “Allow” to enable notifications from Cohesion.
- On the Home screen, select the digital keycard to open the keycard screen.
- Mobile keycard uses Bluetooth to communicate with keycard readers. If it is not enabled on your device, you are prompted to allow Bluetooth, and select “OK”.
- Your keycard uses your location to activate automatically when you’re in the building. If it is not enabled on your device, turn on “Location Sharing” within Settings by selecting Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Enable.
- Recommended: Select “Cohesion” and select “Always” to always allow location access by the app. This ensures your keycard will scan successfully at the turnstiles/readers and allow for smooth elevator access.
- On the keycard screen, select "Tap to Configure" to initialize your mobile keycard. During this process, you can swipe through the screens for an overview of how your mobile keycard works but do not close your app.
- When the initialization completes, select "Close." Your mobile keycard should now display as "On".
- Tap your mobile keycard to confirm a mobile keycard has been added.
- Stay logged into the app and keep it open in the background. If you log out or quit the app, card readers may not detect the mobile keycard.
